ASIC THEME: Innovative Tourism Product
Tucked away in the far East of the Republic of Croatia in the Slavonia region, gently nestled on Danube waves in the East and the Drava river on the North, it’s as if the brightest sun shines, the lightest winds, fruitful vineyards and orchard and gentle landscapes are reserved especially for Erdut. The swiftest route to Erdut district being from four sides of the world, namely, from Zagreb, Belgrade, Budapest, and Sarajevo. Small “shored up” Srijem-style houses with kind and gracious hosts who greet all guests with delicious specialties (Croatian custom of “đakonija” stemming from Slavonia region), including specialties such as “paprikaš” stew and “čobanac”- delicous Slavonian Sheperd’s Stew made from at least three kinds of meat and famously spicy, “fiš” stew, across Slavonian kulen-sausage, bacon, black pudding and cracklings, fresh cheese with cream, stone leek and dried ground peppers, there are manifold influences of taste to be found here from Vienna and Budapest, across Italy, to Turkish cuisine.
Multiculturalism along with exceptional tourism potential are the best reasons for selecting this area for our student competition.
